New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) On the occasion of Bihar Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with a heartfelt letter, celebrating the state's illustrious historical and cultural heritage, alongside its significant contributions to India's progress.

In his correspondence dated March 22, 2026, the Prime Minister expressed his warm regards, stating, “On this special day of Bihar Day, I offer my sincere greetings to you and all my fellow Biharis.” He characterized the day as a celebration of “Bihar’s rich past, its potential, and its traditions,” emphasizing its vital role in shaping India's identity.

Highlighting Bihar’s historical significance, PM Modi remarked, “The land of Bihar has been a source of knowledge, spirituality, and moral values since ancient times.”

He referenced the lasting global impact of figures like Lord Buddha, whose teachings continue to inspire humanity, and acknowledged the influence of great leaders such as Chanakya and Chandragupta Maurya, who played pivotal roles in uniting India.

The Prime Minister commended the people of Bihar for their diverse contributions, stating, “Biharis have crafted a unique identity recognized across India and the globe through their diligence, integrity, and skill.” He also highlighted the role of Bihar’s diaspora in promoting its cultural wealth internationally, noting the global recognition of traditions like the Chhath festival.

Focusing on developmental initiatives, PM Modi emphasized that his government has prioritized infrastructure, connectivity, and inclusive growth over the last decade, reinforcing Bihar’s position in India’s advancement.

He pointed out significant welfare initiatives, stating that “over 4 million homes have been constructed,” and “more than 12 million families have been provided with gas connections,” in addition to financial aid for farmers and empowerment programs for women.

In response to the Prime Minister’s letter, Nitish Kumar expressed his gratitude and reiterated his dedication to the state's development. He remarked, “On behalf of the people of Bihar, I convey our heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his warm message on Bihar Diwas.”

Kumar continued, “We are unwavering in our commitment to the comprehensive development of the state, ensuring social justice, good governance, and enhanced infrastructure,” while recognizing the ongoing assistance from the central government.

Expressing hope for the future, the Chief Minister stated, “With your guidance and support, the hardworking and talented people of Bihar will certainly elevate the state and the nation to new heights,” emphasizing a shared goal of accelerated growth and national progress.
