Patna, May 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a two-day visit to Bihar, where he is poised to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several significant infrastructure projects. These include the new terminal building at Patna Airport and the highly anticipated Varanasi-Gaya-Kolkata Expressway.
The BJP has characterized this visit as a pivotal moment for the development of Bihar; however, opposition figures have denounced the timing of these announcements, labeling them as politically motivated maneuvers ahead of the upcoming elections.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, speaking to the media, associated the Prime Minister's visit with a spiritual and patriotic mission alongside developmental goals.
“This yagya is dedicated to Maa Lalita. Prime Minister Modi's presence here is coupled with prayers for the success of 'Operation Sindoor', where adversaries were overcome,” Singh remarked, invoking themes of faith and nationalism.
He further emphasized that PM Modi's visit underscores his dedication to Bihar’s advancement.
“People question why PM Modi visits Bihar. It’s because the double-engine government is steering the state's development under his guidance. During Lalu Prasad's tenure, a journey from Patna to Buxar took five hours; now it’s reduced to just two. The route from Begusarai to Patna now takes only 1.5 hours. Those who fail to see the progress should reconsider their perspectives,” Singh stated.
BJP’s Bihar President, Dilip Jaiswal, expressed his excitement in anticipation of the PM’s visit. In a playful gesture, he quoted a Bollywood song: “The moment I was waiting for, the moment for which my heart was restless, that moment has finally arrived… Patna is ready to welcome PM Modi.”
Jaiswal mentioned that the capital city is entirely prepared for PM Modi’s arrival, with extensive arrangements and a warm public reception expected.
In contrast, Congress MLA Ajit Sharma has vocally criticized the timing of the PM's visit and his announcements, calling them electoral theatrics.
“Why does the Prime Minister make grand announcements only during election seasons? PM Modi claimed he would generate employment but has yet to deliver a single job. Inflation is soaring, and promises remain unfulfilled,” Sharma commented.
He accused PM Modi of misleading the public with last-minute pledges.
“PM Modi also visited Bhagalpur and made substantial promises to farmers that have not been realized. If real work was underway, such announcements would not be necessary during elections,” Sharma concluded.
