Bhopal, May 11 (NationPress) Following the triumph of the recent agricultural summit in Mandsaur district, the Madhya Pradesh government is set to host two additional summits in Narsinghpur and Satna.
"The next summit is scheduled for May 25 in Narsinghpur, showcasing an exhibition of cutting-edge agricultural machinery, innovative farming methods, improved high-yield seed varieties, and insights into contemporary food processing opportunities. The following session will take place in June in Satna, focusing on strategies to boost farm productivity and enhance farmers' profitability through value-added production," explained a senior official from the government.
As per the Niti Aayog, Madhya Pradesh is recognized as the fastest-developing state in India, with a remarkable growth trajectory.
"The upcoming summit aims to enlighten farmers about modern farming techniques, the latest high-yield seed varieties, and crucially, how they can achieve self-sufficiency in electricity," the official added.
Recently, the state government introduced a buy-back policy for solar energy produced by farmers under the PM Surya Mitra Yojana.
The administration is advocating for solar energy utilization, allowing farmers to harness electricity through solar panels for their pumps.
Any surplus energy produced will be acquired by the state government.
Farmers will be able to procure solar pumps at just 10 percent of the total cost, with the remainder subsidized by the state.
This initiative seeks to relieve farmers from electricity expenses, with plans to distribute 3.2 million solar pumps over the next three years.
The state will additionally prioritize district-specific horticultural crop mapping and the cultivation of horticulture areas on unutilized government properties, including universities.
"Nurseries can be fostered under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, along with district-level workshops and fairs to familiarize farmers and entrepreneurs with best practices in areas like Narsinghpur," the officials stated.
To honor agricultural innovations, the state has proposed a horticulture and food processing summit, akin to the Global Investors Summit earlier this year, which focused on manufacturing and other industries.
After these agricultural summits, a horticulture industry conclave dedicated to medicinal agriculture is planned for Neemuch and Mandsaur.
"Efforts to obtain Geographical Indication (GI) tags for local products are ongoing, enhancing global recognition and export potential for Madhya Pradesh's specialty crops, such as Sharbati wheat and Basmati rice," the officials added.
