MP Barq Questions Government's Silence on Sambhal Violence; BJP Responds

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Samajwadi Party's Sambhal MP Ziaur Rahman Barq on Monday accused the government of hindering parliamentary activities, insisting that the violence in Sambhal warrants an in-depth and open discussion.

"The House is not functioning, and for this, only the government is responsible," Barq remarked.

He underlined the importance of public awareness regarding the events surrounding the Sambhal violence. "The nation should know what transpired in Sambhal and who is accountable. If the government believes its actions were correct, why is it evading a debate?" he questioned.

Barq also condemned the government's restrictions on opposition delegations trying to visit Sambhal. "We attempted to go to Sambhal to grasp the ground reality, but we were obstructed. These measures are designed to conceal the government's shortcomings and a potential conspiracy," he alleged.

In response to Barq's remarks, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma dismissed the opposition's assertions, accusing them of leveraging the situation to incite communal tensions. "The opposition merely seeks to visit Sambhal to propagate communalism. Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, all temples and mosques are secure," Sharma stated.

He accused opposition figures of exploiting the unrest for political advantage rather than seeking genuine solutions.

Numerous leaders from the Samajwadi Party and Congress, including MP Barq, were barred from entering the violence-affected district, as the authorities have extended the prohibition on the entry of outsiders and public representatives into Sambhal until December 10 to preserve "peace and order".

The unrest in Sambhal erupted during protests following officials' arrival for the second court-monitored survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi on November 24, resulting in four fatalities and numerous injuries.

Locals allege that the four youths were killed by police gunfire, a claim the police deny. Authorities have arrested several individuals for their involvement in the violence.

Subsequent to the unrest, officials have imposed restrictions and increased police presence to restore order. However, the situation in Sambhal has returned to normal, with shops and businesses operating and internet services restored.
