Bhopal, April 19 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh BJP President, V. D. Sharma, announced on Saturday that the state party will launch a comprehensive awareness initiative regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

Sharma emphasized that BJP volunteers will educate citizens about the Waqf (Amendment) Act, highlighting how this significant measure by the Centre is poised to bring about beneficial changes in society.

“Different branches of the BJP will spearhead the campaign,” he stated.

To devise a thorough strategy for this initiative, the leadership of the MP BJP has begun discussions with various party unit members.

“During these discussions, party members will receive training on the campaign's entire structure to ensure they are well-informed about Waqf properties in their respective regions when they engage with the public,” he mentioned.

Sharma also presided over a meeting with members of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) at the party headquarters in Bhopal.

“The campaign will inform the public about how Waqf properties have been unlawfully encroached upon and misused by certain individuals. There is no accounting for the income related to Waqf, and a new trend has emerged where claims can be made on any property,” Sharma asserted.

He noted that the party's initiative follows the Supreme Court's decision to hear petitions against the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

It is important to highlight that after receiving approval from both Houses of Parliament and the assent of President Droupadi Murmu on April 5, the Centre enacted the Waqf (Amendment) nationwide on April 8.

In Madhya Pradesh, there are over 14,986 registered properties under the state Waqf Board, covering an area of 52,752 acres, as recorded in official documents.
