Congress Critiques MP Government's Failure to Reserve SC Seats in Upcoming Forest Guard Exams
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 6 (NationPress) With the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), previously recognized as 'Vyapam', preparing to conduct recruitment exams for forest guards on April 7, the Congress party has publicly criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to reserve seats for Scheduled Caste candidates.
Umang Singhar, the Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh and a senior Congress figure, took to social media to express his concerns, claiming that the recruitment process for forest guards in the state is facing significant scrutiny.
Singhar pointed out that none of the 728 forest guard positions have been set aside for Scheduled Caste applicants.
“Out of the 728 available posts, 310 are allocated for the unreserved category, 143 for Scheduled Tribes, 198 for Other Backward Classes, and 77 for Economically Weaker Sections. This situation is not only alarming but also a blatant disregard for social justice and constitutional principles,” stated LoP Singhar on platform X.
He further argued that this issue reflects more than just an administrative oversight; it represents a serious violation of marginalized communities' rights.
Singhar has called for a response from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, emphasizing that the treatment of Scheduled Caste youth is both “abhorrent and unacceptable.”
“The Chief Minister must urgently address this situation to ensure that the constitutionally mandated reservation system is fully implemented, protecting the rights and future prospects of Dalit youth,” he demanded.
According to a notification from MBESB dated February 28, the exams will be held to fill a total of 1,679 positions, which includes 728 for Forest Guard (Van Rakshak), 169 for Field Guard (Kshetra Rakshak), and 757 for Jail Prahari (Warder).
Candidates for these roles must have completed Class 10, with the deadline for online application submissions set for March 14, 2026.
The computer-based examination is slated to commence on April 7, 2026.
The age requirements for the Forest Guard, Field Guard, and Jail Prahari roles range from a minimum of 18 years to a maximum of 33 years. For the Assistant Jail Superintendent position, applicants must be between 21 and 33 years old as of January 1, 2026, with applicable government rules permitting relaxation of the upper age limit.
The selection process will entail a written exam, followed by a skill assessment. Those who pass will go through document verification and medical examinations prior to final appointment.
