New Delhi, May 14 (NationPress) The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) has strongly criticized Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah for his offensive comments directed at Indian Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. The organization has called for his immediate removal, labeling the remarks as a serious affront not just to Colonel Qureshi but also to the honor and dignity of the entire Indian Armed Forces.
During a public speech, BJP Minister Shah allegedly described Colonel Qureshi as a “sister of terrorists,” a statement that MRM argues undermines national unity and disrespects the values upheld by the military.
Shahid Sayeed, the National Convener of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, condemned the remarks as highly offensive and a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of the Army.
“In a time when our nation stands together against external threats and honors the valor of our soldiers through initiatives like ‘Operation Sindoor,’ such disgraceful comments are not only unacceptable but also deeply regrettable,” he stated.
Sayeed emphasized that the statement not only damages the reputation of a committed officer but also demoralizes the thousands of men and women serving honorably in the military.
The incident led to an urgent meeting of MRM’s National Conveners’ Council, which culminated in a strongly worded statement demanding the dismissal of BJP Minister Vijay Shah, legal action against him, and a formal apology to both Colonel Qureshi and the Indian armed forces.
MRM underlined that this issue transcends politics and pertains to the core principles of respect, equality, and national pride.
“Indian soldiers, irrespective of gender, religion, or background, are the pride of our nation. Any effort to tarnish their image is a direct attack on India itself. The citizens of this country will not tolerate such conduct from any public official,” Sayeed added in the announcement.
MRM expressed its unwavering support for Colonel Qureshi, commending her service and bravery, and reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to the Indian Armed Forces.
The organization insisted that those who disrespect the military and attempt to politicize or communalize its integrity should be held accountable under the law.
