Patna, May 16 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has put up posters across Patna today, calling for the arrest of Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah due to his alleged inappropriate comments directed at Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.
The posters prominently display images of Colonel Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and several party members, along with slogans such as “Colonel Sofiya Ka Apman, Nahi Sahega Hindustan” and “Colonel Sofiya is our sister and we take pride in her”.
Additionally, they emphasize the valor of the Indian military, mentioning recent operations and boldly declaring that “PoK would have been reclaimed if the conflict continued for just two more days.”
RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed strongly criticized Minister Shah, labeling his comments as “shameful and demoralizing to the armed forces.”
He praised the Madhya Pradesh High Court for its suo motu directive to file an FIR against Shah, asserting that “The judicial system must hold accountable those who aim to incite hatred and divide our nation. Such statements are unconstitutional and jeopardize our unity, integrity, and national morale.”
Ejaz further called out the BJP for its silence on the matter, questioning why the party has not taken steps against Minister Shah.
“Why is the BJP remaining silent? Instead of honoring Colonel Sofiya’s heroism, their representatives are damaging her reputation for political advantage. This is intolerable,” Ejaz remarked.
He accused BJP leaders of consistently making divisive remarks that harm the nation's social fabric and undermine the sacrifices made by our soldiers.
Interestingly, the Madhya Pradesh BJP has distanced itself from Shah's comments.
BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra defended the party, stating that the matter is currently sub judice.
“We take pride in the Indian Army, especially regarding their courageous execution of Operation Sindoor. This is a legal matter, and justice will prevail. However, the RJD is unnecessarily politicizing this issue. What do they intend to demonstrate with this poster?” Mishra questioned.
He added that for the BJP, the nation is paramount, and any allegations suggesting otherwise are politically motivated.
