Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) On Tuesday, the Mumbai Police escorted the suspect, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, to Saif Ali Khan's residence for a crime scene recreation. The police team arrived at Khan's apartment, located on the 12th floor of the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra at approximately 5:30 a.m. Their objective was to uncover how the suspect accessed the actor's home, as he was not captured on any security footage while entering the building.

The authorities retraced Shehzad's steps following his departure from Khan's residence. The suspect was taken to the garden adjacent to the Satguru Sharan building and subsequently to the National College Bus Stop, where he allegedly lingered for some time after the crime. As part of their investigation, the police also transported Shehzad to Bandra Railway Station, the site from which he reportedly fled. They are working to establish how he made it to the station.

After reconstructing various scenes, the suspect was returned to the Bandra Police Station. The police are focused on documenting the sequence of events from Shehzad's entry into the building to his escape before apprehension.

Shehzad, a 30-year-old man from Bangladesh, was apprehended on Sunday morning (January 19) in Thane. The Mumbai Police assert that he hails from the Jhalokati district in Bangladesh. He was apprehended at Hiranandani Estate in Thane while attempting to flee back to his homeland.

A local court has placed him in police custody for five days. Reports indicate that Shehzad has admitted to the crime, stating, “haan, maine hi kiya hai” (yes, I did it).

On January 16, Shehzad invaded Saif Ali Khan's home, attempting to rob him. During this incident, Khan was assaulted and suffered six knife wounds.

According to police reports, Shehzad was captured near Hiranandani Estate in Kasarvadavali, Thane, roughly 35 km from Khan's residence in Bandra, Mumbai. This arrest followed a more than 70-hour extensive manhunt initiated after the botched burglary attempt on Thursday morning.

The police located Shehzad at a labor camp within a wooded area in Thane. Upon sensing police presence, he concealed himself in the underbrush, as reported by sources. He was ultimately detained after a seven-hour search operation in the city.

DCP Dixit Gedam informed the media on January 19 that Shehzad is a Bangladeshi national without any Indian identification documents. Items found in his possession confirmed his nationality, according to Gedam. Furthermore, the police disclosed that he had been residing in Mumbai for the last four months and had adopted the name Bijoy Das.
