Gurugram, May 12 (NationPress) The police in Gurugram have apprehended a murder suspect, who had a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, a staggering fifteen years after the incident occurred, according to an official announcement made on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Siddh Lal, hails from Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh and had been evading capture for the last fifteen years.
As per police reports, on the evening of March 31, 2009, Siddh Lal, in collaboration with two accomplices, attacked Bhagirath, a resident of Damoh (Madhya Pradesh), during a financial dispute and subsequently set him ablaze.
The victim was taken to RN Hospital Manesar in Gurugram for urgent medical attention, where he succumbed to his injuries on May 11, 2009, as stated by the police.
A case was registered at the police station in Manesar based on the complaint received.
During their investigation, the PO Staff from Headquarters, Gurugram, led by Sub-Inspector Deepak Kumar, successfully captured Siddh Lal on May 12 in village Dudhwa, located in Charkhi Dadri district.
The spokesperson for the Gurugram police mentioned, "The suspect had been working as a mason and frequently changed his location across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states to evade law enforcement. He will be presented in court for further legal proceedings."
In a separate incident, the Gurugram police have also apprehended two suspects, including a female domestic worker, in connection with a theft exceeding Rs 50,000.
On May 1, a woman reported the theft of cash and jewelry from her residence in DLF Phase-3, Gurugram, which occurred on April 30, allegedly by her domestic helper. Following the investigation, police captured the two suspects, including the domestic worker, in Dinajpur, West Bengal, on May 9.
The suspects have been identified as Rakhi and Maqsood Alam, both from North Dinajpur (West Bengal). Police have recovered over Rs 5,000 from their possession. Rakhi is currently on a six-day police remand for further interrogation and recovery of the stolen property.
