Gurugram, March 1 (NationPress) A dedicated unit of the Gurugram Police's crime branch has successfully apprehended an interstate criminal who was wanted and had a bounty of Rs 20,000. This incident took place in the Manesar region.

Authorities received intelligence late Friday regarding the suspect, who was reportedly involved in a series of thefts and robberies. The accused was traveling towards Gurugram from Panchgaon while armed and riding a motorcycle.

In a swift response, the police established a checkpoint near Polytechnic College Manesar on NH-48. Shortly thereafter, a motorcycle approached the police, and when officers signaled for the rider to halt, he opened fire and attempted to flee. Nevertheless, he was subdued by the police.

During the confrontation, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, as reported by the police.

The individual has been identified as Aleem, aged 30, hailing from Rajasthan. Following the incident, he was transported to the hospital for medical care.

According to a spokesperson for the Gurugram Police, a total of eight shots were fired during the encounter—six by the suspect and two by the police. Authorities recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, and eight empty shell casings associated with the suspect’s activities.

It was revealed that the suspect was implicated in a robbery within the jurisdiction of Sector-65 police station in Gurugram back in 2024. After evading capture, the police had announced a Rs 20,000 reward for his arrest.

An examination of his criminal record uncovered that he is linked to a total of 22 cases of theft and robbery across Gurugram, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

Currently, the suspect is receiving treatment; upon his discharge, he will be taken into custody according to legal procedures, and a thorough interrogation is planned.
