Muzaffarpur (Bihar), April 20 (NationPress) A resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the significant transformation brought to his family's life following the receipt of a gas cylinder through the Central government's prominent initiative -- Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Designed to support numerous economically disadvantaged families, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has been a remarkable blessing for Kishore Razak's family.

With the gas cylinder obtained through this welfare initiative, Razak's family, which previously relied on wood for cooking, has been saved from smoke inhalation, leading to their gratitude toward PM Modi.

Budhni Devi, Kishore Razak's mother, who resides in the Balkhana area of Muzaffarpur, finally received a gas cylinder and stove under the Ujjwala scheme, restoring prosperity to her household.

In the past, Budhni Devi had to cook using firewood. However, since the launch of the Ujjwala scheme by PM Modi nearly nine years ago, her family has been able to benefit from the program, eliminating the smoke from traditional chulhas.

Kishore Razak shared with IANS: "Previously, food was prepared on a wooden stove in our home, which consumed a lot of time. But thanks to my mother's access to the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, she didn't have to spend any money on this welfare initiative."

He further mentioned: "Through the Ujjwala scheme, my family received a gas cylinder and a stove, allowing us to cook meals on schedule. In contrast, using a wooden stove filled our home with smoke, causing eye irritation and the constant worry of a potential fire hazard."

Razak stated: "I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as it is because of him that families like ours are able to benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana."

"I hope Narendra Modi continues as Prime Minister, enabling poor families to access similar welfare schemes launched by the Central government nationwide," he added.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016, aiming to provide 50 million LPG connections to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, with a budget allocation of Rs 80 billion. The scheme was succeeded by Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 in 2021. While the initiative has expanded access to clean cooking technologies, the use of polluting fuels remains prevalent, especially in rural India.
