Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Nagpur, Feb 27 (NationPress) With the festival of colors on the horizon, markets nationwide are bustling as shoppers flock to purchase hues for celebration.
Festive stalls are brimming with vivid colors, rangolis, and an array of items. Among them, eco-friendly gulals are emerging as the star attraction, drawing in many curious visitors.
In the city of Nagpur, these sustainable colors are becoming increasingly popular, with demand soaring across various cities in Maharashtra.
The esteemed Adamane family has become a pivotal player in promoting the transition from conventional to eco-friendly colors, as they have been crafting organic colors for three generations. This year, they are fully stocked with their organic offerings, advocating for their use to embrace the natural benefits over synthetic alternatives.
Roshan Adamne shared insights about their family legacy with IANS, stating, "Our grandfather initiated this venture. We utilize arrowroot powder as our primary component, mixing it with food-safe colors. No harmful chemicals are included. The mixture is created by combining water and color, sun-dried, filtered through machinery, and then packaged. This process yields 7-8 vibrant colors, including green, blue, red, and yellow."
He further emphasized, "Our mission extends beyond profit; we aim to enable people to celebrate Holi safely with environmentally friendly colors."
The gulal is supplied throughout Vidarbha and reaches various regions in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, as well as being shipped to other states upon request.
Roshan noted, "This year, gulal is available at lower prices in the market, likely due to the GST impact, offering customers significant relief and encouraging bulk purchases."
The rising popularity of organic gulal can be attributed to growing awareness of the dangers posed by chemical colors. Consumers are increasingly opting for natural alternatives to prevent skin allergies, eye irritation, and environmental harm. This eco-friendly gulal from Nagpur not only ensures safety but also preserves the vibrant tradition of the festival.
