Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Singapore Prime Minister's official residence on Monday, 15 June, seeking cooperation across a sweeping range of sectors including semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and university research. The bilateral meeting lasted 30 minutes and covered both high-technology and sustainable development priorities.

Key Areas of Discussion

According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Naidu specifically sought Singapore's support in building Andhra Pradesh's semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and in capacity development. Discussions also covered AI, quantum technologies, R&D collaboration, university partnerships, urban governance, leadership development, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.

Naidu shared progress on developing Amaravati as a globally benchmarked capital city with world-class infrastructure. According to the CMO, Singapore PM Lawrence Wong specifically inquired about the construction of Amaravati, seeking details on educational institutions, infrastructure projects, and construction being executed to international standards. Wong reportedly appreciated the vision and expressed confidence in its future potential.

Agriculture, Energy and Trade Opportunities

The Chief Minister raised the prospect of Singapore importing horticultural and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh, noting that efforts are underway to ensure certification and traceability for produce grown through natural farming methods. Naidu informed Wong that the state is actively cultivating crops using natural farming techniques.

On the energy front, Naidu told the Singapore PM that Andhra Pradesh is targeting 160 gigawatts of green energy generation. The two leaders also discussed cooperation in clean energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, healthcare, and food exports.

Infrastructure and Urban Governance

Naidu proposed collaboration on the development of ports and airports, and sought Singapore's expertise in urban governance for Amaravati and other urban centres across the state. He invited Singapore's government-linked companies and industry leaders to partner with Andhra Pradesh in Amaravati's growth, framing the city as a future hub driven by innovation, sustainability, and economic opportunity.

Population and Public Health

The two leaders also touched on the issue of declining populations worldwide, discussing measures such as affordable housing, childcare, public health, and population management — areas where Singapore has developed widely studied policy frameworks.
