Kadapa, May 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has been unanimously re-elected as the national President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday.
During the second day of Mahanadu, the annual party conclave held in Kadapa, Naidu was declared re-elected without opposition for another two-year term.
The announcement was made by TDP Election Committee chairman Varla Ramaiah, and it was met with enthusiastic cheers from TDP delegates from all over the state.
Ministers, party MPs, state legislators, and other party leaders extended their congratulations to Naidu, who secured his fourth term as Chief Minister last year following the electoral success of the TDP-led NDA.
Having turned 75 last month, Naidu has held the position of party President for an impressive 30 years.
In his address, he expressed gratitude to the party members for their trust and assured them that he would remain committed to serving their interests. He emphasized that the TDP will continue to thrive as long as the Telugu people exist.
Naidu mentioned that the Mahanadu had thorough discussions on six resolutions and devised a strategic plan for the next 40 years.
He assumed leadership of the party and became Chief Minister after a revolt against TDP founder and his father-in-law, N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), in 1995. NTR passed away from cardiac arrest on January 18, 1996.
Notably, Naidu's re-election coincided with the 102nd birth anniversary of NTR. He paid heartfelt tributes to the late leader, who was not only a renowned film actor but also a significant political figure.
NTR founded the TDP in 1982 with the slogan of Telugu self-respect and made history by coming to power in united Andhra Pradesh within just nine months of the party's inception.
NTR served as Chief Minister three times and played a vital role in uniting opposition parties against Congress nationally.
