Srinagar, Feb 11 (NationPress) J&K ruling National Conference (NC) Spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq asserted on Tuesday that the NC will never share an office with the BJP, strongly rejecting speculation regarding a potential political alliance between the two parties in J&K.

Addressing media inquiries about the supposed meeting between J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which was allegedly linked to NC President Farooq Abdullah forming a political partnership with the BJP, Tanvir Sadiq emphasized that there is nothing “brewing” between the NC and BJP.

Further reports suggested a warming trend between the BJP and NC following the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) defeat in the Delhi elections, also highlighting the deteriorating relationship between Congress and NC.

Tanvir Sadiq, who represents the Zadibal Assembly constituency in Srinagar, clarified that the Chief Minister's meeting with Amit Shah in Delhi was not unusual, as similar meetings have occurred in the past.

“There were no special arrangements this time; the Chief Minister can meet him anytime for the welfare of the population. The NC stands firmly against BJP's policies and has campaigned against them. The party will not entertain individuals responsible for spreading confusion in the future,” he stated.

Nevertheless, he noted that a functional relationship will persist between J&K and the Centre, stating, “Let me make it clear that BJP and NC will never collaborate.”

“The NC has consistently opposed the BJP, a right-wing party that revoked Article 370 and stripped the J&K populace of their rights by fragmenting the state into two union territories,” he remarked.

He further explained that the NC's core electoral strategy in both Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections has been to contest the BJP's policies and its “proxies” in J&K.

“We gained power in J&K not as a BJP ally but as its principal opponent. We secured our position by defeating the BJP in elections,” he said.

Another senior NC member, who preferred to remain anonymous, reinforced, “Claiming that we are pursuing a political alliance with the BJP or seeking its backing to remain in power would be a betrayal of the people's mandate. That is completely out of the question.”
