Hubballi, April 14 (NationPress) Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi stated on Monday that it is the NDA government that has shown the utmost respect to the architect of the Constitution, B.R. Ambedkar, who has been overlooked by numerous administrations since the pre-Independence period.

While paying floral tributes to Ambedkar’s statues in various locations in Hubballi during the celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti, Joshi remarked that despite his significant contributions, Ambedkar has experienced ongoing disregard from those in authority following independence.

“It was during the tenures of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi that he finally received the recognition he deserves,” he mentioned.

He recalled the efforts of former Prime Minister Vajpayee, who pressed the V.P. Singh government, ultimately leading to the awarding of the Bharat Ratna to Ambedkar.

“Likewise, when the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office, November 26 was officially designated as ‘Constitution Day’ in 2015 to honor Ambedkar,” he added.

Minister Joshi emphasized that the Constitution, crafted by Ambedkar, was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949.

“In homage, Prime Minister Modi initiated the observance of this day as Constitution Day or National Law Day in 2015,” he stated.

Joshi asserted that the BJP has consistently demonstrated the utmost respect for Ambedkar, who established the groundwork for equality, protection for all, and inclusive progress through the Constitution.

“PM Modi has also developed five key sites connected to Ambedkar into the ‘Panchteerth’ (five sacred sites),” he said.

The minister further pointed out that PM Modi’s government has allocated over Rs 44,700 crore in scholarships to approximately 8.4 crore students from Scheduled Castes.

“Under the Mudra scheme, loans exceeding Rs 34.6 lakh crore have been distributed. Furthermore, 1.5 crore permanent houses have been constructed, and more than 3 crore beneficiaries have received Ujjwala gas connections. These initiatives exemplify the government’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities,” he remarked.

Praising Ambedkar as one of the greatest leaders India has ever produced, Joshi commended his life, thoughts, ideals, and his battle against social inequality as a perpetual source of inspiration.

He encouraged individuals to embrace Ambedkar’s principles of progress and equality.

Minister Joshi, along with leaders of the North Karnataka Chalavadi Mahasabha, distributed schoolbags and textbooks to students, as well as buttermilk and refreshments to the public in Hubballi.

In accordance with Ambedkar’s vision, over 400 students received schoolbags and textbooks at Ambedkar Circle in Anandnagar, Hubballi.

Afterwards, Joshi joined Dalit leaders to pay floral tributes at Ambedkar’s statue located in the KIMS research campus.
