Madurai (Tamil Nadu), April 6 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Monday that a significant “wave of change” is currently influencing Tamil Nadu in favor of the NDA. He expressed his optimism that the alliance is poised to establish the next government in the state.
Speaking to reporters in Madurai after submitting the nomination for BJP candidate Raama Sreenivasan, Fadnavis praised him as a “young and promising leader” with ample experience in public service.
“We have just completed the nomination of our candidate, Raama Sreenivasan. I can distinctly observe a wave of change in Tamil Nadu. This time, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our NDA partners, we will successfully form the government in Tamil Nadu. Our candidate is certain to win this constituency,” he stated.
Fadnavis criticized the ruling DMK and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin over his “dabba engine” comment, suggesting that the people will respond with their votes.
“The public has witnessed the misgovernance under the DMK. Nearly 75% of its Cabinet is facing criminal charges, and there is widespread corruption. Vulnerable groups, including women, senior citizens, and children, are not safe. Reports of child sexual abuse have surged over the past four years, and the public perceives a collaboration between the DMK and these elements. Hence, they will respond by voting the NDA into power,” he claimed.
Additionally, the Maharashtra Chief Minister expressed worries about the state’s financial situation, asserting that Tamil Nadu is edging towards a “debt trap”.
“Tamil Nadu has historically been one of the most prosperous states in our nation, but under the DMK administration, it is now encumbered with immense debt. The total debt has exceeded Rs 10 lakh crore, and the debt-to-GDP ratio has surpassed 30–33%, which is alarming,” he remarked.
On the subject of the three-language policy, Fadnavis stressed the importance of unity while honoring linguistic diversity.
“We are one people, one nation. We should take pride in our own languages while also respecting the diverse languages that our country has to offer,” he commented, in response to the DMK's opposition to the policy.
In relation to the recent Karthigai Deepam lamp-lighting controversy, he accused the DMK government of meddling with time-honored traditions for political gain.
Earlier in the day, Fadnavis visited the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple to offer prayers, accompanied by BJP candidate Raama Sreenivasan.
