NDMC Vice Chairman Criticizes AAP's Registration Initiative; Calls It 'Election Stunt'

New Delhi, Dec 22 (NationPress) The BJP on Sunday intensified its critique of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the recently launched door-to-door registration initiative for two welfare schemes -- Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana -- charging the party with engaging in 'election stunts' as the Delhi Assembly elections draw near.
In an interview with IANS, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Chahal accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of making empty promises.
'Kejriwal promised 500 new schools, 20 colleges, job opportunities for youth, and free water and electricity. None of these commitments have been realized. Why is he making these proclamations now after a decade in office? Will the funds magically find their way into people's bank accounts?' Chahal questioned, branding the welfare initiatives as mere 'election stunts.'
Chahal also criticized AAP's Sanjeevani Yojana, asserting it is unnecessary since the central government's Ayushman Bharat scheme already serves over 50 crore individuals across the nation.
'Kejriwal is obstructing the execution of Ayushman Bharat in Delhi, denying the underprivileged its advantages. These recent announcements are a ruse, and the public is not fooled,' he declared.
Confident about the BJP's chances in the forthcoming elections, Chahal remarked, 'The BJP will triumph in Delhi and even unseat Kejriwal from his own constituency. Where the BJP governs, direct benefit schemes for women, the elderly, the impoverished, and OBC communities are in place.'
Earlier that day, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Kejriwal of indulging in 'political theatrics' and referenced AAP's unfulfilled promises in Punjab. 'As of December 2024, not a single rupee has been disbursed to the women in Punjab as promised. Is respect for women merely an election gimmick for Kejriwal?' she questioned.
In her comments to IANS, Swaraj also raised concerns about the financial sustainability of AAP's initiatives, noting that the Chief Minister had recently sought a Rs 10.5 crore loan from the central government.
Swaraj cautioned senior citizens in Delhi, alleging that AAP exploits welfare schemes as bait.
The BJP has persistently criticized AAP regarding its governance in Delhi, emphasizing stalled development projects, unfulfilled commitments, and alleged financial mismanagement.
