Hyderabad, May 28 (NationPress) K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserted that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) report concerning the Kaleshwaram project is merely a fabricated narrative, motivated by a distorted political agenda.

The former minister stated that referring to the NDSA report as an NDA report is justified.

He expressed satisfaction over L&T's challenge to the NDSA findings: “I am pleased that L&T is opposing the blatant political smear campaign propagated through this unscientific report and reaffirming what the BRS has consistently maintained. The NDSA report is nothing but a fabrication, fueled by a crass political agenda,” Rama Rao shared on X.

The BRS leader pointed out that without any empirical testing or scientific evidence, Congress and the BJP have jointly criticized Kaleshwaram, which stands as the largest multi-stage lift irrigation project globally.

“The poor quality lies not with Kaleshwaram or the Medigadda barrage but with the current political maneuvering of Congress and BJP in Telangana,” he remarked.

“You can spin as many conspiracy theories as you wish, but the truth remains—Kaleshwaram is the lifeline of Telangana, and KCR garu is a visionary,” KTR emphasized.

L&T, which was responsible for constructing the Medigadda barrage, has openly disagreed with certain findings in the NDSA's final report submitted to the state government, highlighting various inconsistencies.

The NDSA initiated a probe following the sinking of several piers of the barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram initiative across the Godavari River, in October of the previous year.

The NDSA has recently delivered its final report. Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed that this report serves as a direct indictment of the previous BRS administration, revealing critical flaws in its design, construction, and maintenance.

Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the NDSA report highlighted deficiencies, noting that the design, construction, operation, and maintenance were inadequate. He mentioned that proper soil testing and geophysical investigations were not conducted.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach the situation with an unbiased lens. While political figures claim the report is a fabrication, it raises essential questions about accountability and governance within Telangana. The future of the Kaleshwaram project hinges on transparent discussions and evidence-based evaluations, essential for maintaining public trust.
