New Delhi, May 4 (NationPress) The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2025 is set to occur on Sunday nationwide, with more than 22.7 lakh candidates ready to take part. This crucial medical entrance exam will be conducted at 5,453 centres across over 500 cities throughout the country.
In light of past controversies regarding the exam, such as allegations of paper leaks and irregularities during the 2024 session, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has significantly enhanced security and monitoring protocols.
As per information from the Union Ministry of Education, a three-tier surveillance system will be implemented during the examination process at district, state, and centre levels.
This year, the majority of exam centres are situated in government and government-aided schools, colleges, universities, and institutions.
To promote transparency and mitigate malpractice, the NTA has issued comprehensive guidelines alongside the admit cards and exam city slips. Candidates are expected to strictly comply with the stipulated rules by the testing agency. Any attempt at cheating, impersonation, or unfair means will lead to severe penalties, including result cancellation and a three-year ban from participating in any NTA-organized examination.
In an official statement, the NTA has warned candidates against trusting unverified sources or individuals claiming to have influence over exam results or admissions. “Students are strongly recommended to rely exclusively on the official updates available on the NTA’s website,” the advisory stressed.
The enhanced vigilance and regulatory measures follow the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, which attracted considerable criticism and legal scrutiny for alleged malpractices, including inflated scores and grace marks. This year, authorities are striving to restore trust and ensure a fair and secure examination experience for all candidates.
The NTA has also considered the challenging summer heat, as the exam is slated for the afternoon. They have instructed authorities to ensure that all testing centres are equipped with essential facilities, including drinking water, reliable electricity, portable toilets (if necessary), and emergency health services such as first aid and ambulances.
