Kolkata, March 12 (NationPress) Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of renowned freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has raised concerns regarding the authenticity of the cap belonging to the iconic leader. This cap was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is currently displayed at the Netaji Museum within Delhi's Red Fort. Bose is calling for an investigation into its authenticity.
In an interview with IANS, Bose emphasized that Netaji's family personally entrusted the cap to Prime Minister Modi in 2019, requesting its preservation at the museum dedicated to the leader at the Red Fort.
“We presented the cap worn by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to Prime Minister Modi with the request for it to be housed in the Red Fort museum. It was a gratifying moment when the Prime Minister accepted our request, and we gifted the cap in 2019,” he elaborated.
Bose recalled that during the museum's inauguration, the Prime Minister himself placed the cap inside a glass enclosure for public viewing.
However, he expressed concern when the cap was later reportedly sent to various museums for exhibitions and was recently missing from the Red Fort museum, its original location.
A member of the Open Platform for Netaji advised the family to reach out to the Prime Minister regarding this situation.
“We tweeted and sent a letter to the Prime Minister. It’s commendable that PM Modi took an active role in addressing our concerns. Following that, an MP also inquired about why the cap was not where it should be—at the Red Fort museum,” he stated.
Questioning the cap currently on display, Bose asserted that it appears different from the original cap handed over by the family, necessitating a thorough examination.
“The cap currently displayed must be authenticated. The original cap we provided looks distinct from this one. Hence, it should undergo scrutiny,” he stated.
Bose concluded by requesting a thorough investigation into the matter and urged the Prime Minister to ensure the issue is looked into.
“We seek a formal inquiry into this situation. Since the Prime Minister has already intervened previously, we appeal to him to initiate an investigation,” Bose remarked.
