New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, has developed Model Adventure Safety Guidelines aimed at creating a comprehensive safety structure for adventure tourism, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
In a written response, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that these guidelines have been disseminated to all States and Union Territories for their adoption and the formulation or updating of safety protocols.
The development and promotion of tourist destinations and products, including adventure tourism, are spearheaded by the respective State Governments or Union Territory (UT) administrations. The Ministry supports the efforts of States and UTs through various schemes and initiatives, he added.
Through its central sector initiatives such as ‘Swadesh Darshan’, ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’, and ‘Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development’, the Ministry provides financial support to State Governments and UT Administrations for enhancing tourism infrastructure across the nation, including adventure tourism, he mentioned.
In response to another inquiry, Shekhawat revealed that the Ministry has launched an upgraded version of the Incredible India Digital Platform (IIDP), serving as a comprehensive resource for travelers and stakeholders interested in exploring the nation, as communicated to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
He elaborated that the IIDP utilizes an AI-driven tool to personalize visitor experiences by providing real-time weather updates, city exploration, and essential travel services.
The platform has also formed partnerships with several Online Travel Agents (OTAs) and stakeholders to facilitate seamless bookings for flights, hotels, cabs, buses, and entry tickets for ASI monuments, he stated.
The NIDHI+ platform encompasses the approval and classification of accommodation units as well as the recognition and registration of other essential tourism service providers. This portal has been integrated with the IIDP to deliver reliable, real-time information for service providers, he added.
