New Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Suspended Karnataka DSP Ramachandrappa

Bengaluru, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have initiated a new sexual harassment case against suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) P. Ramachandrappa, who is currently detained in Tumakuru District Prison.

This latest complaint was lodged at the Madhugiri police station on Thursday, and authorities have opened a case.

On January 4, a Karnataka court placed Ramachandrappa in 14 days of judicial custody after he was allegedly filmed in a compromising situation with a woman inside his office restroom. Following this incident, the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) suspended the officer.

The second victim's complaint outlines how Ramachandrappa sexually harassed her during her visit to his office to pursue justice in a fraud case she had reported upon the recommendation of the State Women's Commission.

This married woman had lost Rs 12 lakh in a fraudulent property transaction involving a powerful individual. After addressing the issue with the State Women's Commission, she was directed to report it to the police.

The victim stated that Ramachandrappa frequently summoned her to the police station for various reasons.

She recounted, “When I arrived at the police station, Ramachandrappa instructed my husband to remain outside and then sexually assaulted me.”

Previously, a 35-second leaked video captured the inappropriate actions of the accused, who was in uniform, with a complainant in his washroom.

This incident has heightened concerns, particularly as Madhugiri is located within the Tumakuru district, home to State Home Minister G. Parameshwara. The woman featured in the video has lodged a complaint against him, leading to the police filing an FIR under Sections 68 (sexual intercourse by a person in authority abusing their position), 75 (sexual harassment), and 79 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act.
