New Delhi, Oct 24 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India has instructed its field offices to clearly display details about the availability of the ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’ at all toll plazas to improve transparency and boost user awareness, as stated by the government on Friday.
This initiative is designed to ensure that commuters are thoroughly informed about the availability, pricing, and procedures for acquiring the Local Monthly Pass and Annual Pass facilities, according to an official statement.
Information will be showcased on signage boards at prominent locations, such as toll plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry or exit points, in English, Hindi, and local dialects, as noted by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
The NHAI has mandated its field offices to install these boards at toll plazas for a duration of 30 days and to ensure that all signage is easily visible both day and night, in accordance with the applicable toll regulations. To further enhance accessibility, this information will also be made available on the Rajmargyatra mobile app and relevant NHAI project websites.
The ‘Local Monthly Pass’ can be obtained by residents with private vehicles living within a 20 km (or as applicable) radius of a toll plaza by submitting their Aadhar card, Vehicle Registration Certificate, and proof of residence.
This monthly pass is issued at the toll plaza helpdesk following document verification, as indicated by the ministry.
In a similar vein, the ‘Annual Pass’ is valid for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings and is exclusively for private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, or vans.
The annual pass can be purchased through the Rajmargyatra application and is activated digitally on the valid FASTag linked to the vehicle after a one-time payment of Rs. 3,000. This pass is valid at approximately 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways throughout the country.
