Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 25 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has commenced an investigation into a bomb explosion incident occurring within the limits of the Bijayganj Bazar Police Station, situated in the Bhangar sector of Kolkata Police, according to a source from the central agency on Wednesday.
The event involved a series of successive detonations that transpired while crude bombs were being manufactured in the village of South Bamunia, located in Bhangar, within the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
A victim, identified as Moshiur Qazi, lost his life in the explosions.
It is claimed that, post-explosions, Moshiur's charred body was transported approximately 10 to 12 kilometers to Haroa and disposed of near a fish farm.
The NIA officials are investigating the possibility of a conspiracy behind the entire occurrence.
Reports indicate that bomb-making activities were in progress at the site in Bhangar.
Similar to an incident that took place in Bhupatinagar, East Midnapore district in 2022, there was an attempt to dispose of the body in Bhangar as well.
It has been alleged that a fatality occurred as a result of an explosion within the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police, yet the body was later removed and transferred to an area overseen by the West Bengal Police.
Investigators believe that a deep-rooted conspiracy is at play in this situation.
Following initial inquiries, a decision has been made to carry out a comprehensive investigation into this particular dimension of the case.
In the meantime, the NIA has filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident.
The insider mentioned that the NIA plans to present details concerning this explosion before a Special NIA Court.
The bomb blast in Bhangar occurred nearly a week ago.
Within hours of the incident, the dismembered body of a man was found.
However, this recovery happened in Haroa, North 24 Parganas district.
Six days following the incident, the police successfully uncovered the mystery surrounding the case.
Authorities confirmed that Moshiur Qazi died during the explosion while attempting to assemble bombs.
Reports indicate that Qazi held the position of Trinamool President for booth No. 178 in the Gangnia region of Deganga.
However, the Trinamool Congress has yet to verify whether Qazi was associated with the party.
In connection with this event, police apprehended an ambulance driver named Sanjay Mandal.
