Gurugram, April 22 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of the Gurugram police has detained a female drug trafficker from Nigeria near Paras Buildtech in Sector-54 on Tuesday, according to police reports.

The suspect, identified as Praise Osibe (28), hails from Nigeria but currently resides at Lohia Apartment in Mehrauli, Delhi.

Authorities seized 13.8 grams of illicit MDMA from her possession.

A case has been filed against her at the Sector-53 police station under pertinent sections of the NDPS Act.

During preliminary interrogations, it was revealed that she arrived in India in 2011.

The woman had received illegal drugs from another Nigerian individual in Delhi for distribution.

Additionally, she is employed as a cook in various households in Delhi.

A spokesperson for the Gurugram police stated, "The police are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the suspect's passport, visa, and other accomplices. Further actions will be initiated based on the findings from the police inquiry. The case remains under investigation."

Earlier in April, the police executed 'Operation Akraman' to apprehend those engaged in illicit activities such as drug and liquor smuggling.

As a result of this operation, 71 FIRs were filed, leading to the arrest of 118 individuals, including 48 proclaimed offenders in Gurugram.

The initiative saw the involvement of 214 teams comprising 975 police personnel, targeting various criminal activities. The recovery during this operation included illegal liquor (1,013.5 bottles of country liquor, 150.25 bottles of English liquor, and 98 bottles of beer), 478 grams of ganja, nine grams of MDMA, a CNG autorickshaw, a car, 10 iPhones, a laptop, and cash amounting to Rs 25,000.
