Patna, Sep 5 (NationPress) On Friday, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for 17 development projects in Patna district.
The initiatives comprise 12 projects from the power sector and four from tourism, emphasizing the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public services.
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of Bihar’s first cable suspension bridge over the Punpun River, constructed at a cost of Rs 82.99 crore.
Inspired by the renowned Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh, this bridge is anticipated to provide a unique identity for Punpun in the tourism arena.
Locals have affectionately started calling it the “Laxman Jhula of Punpun”.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who accompanied the Chief Minister, noted, “Together with Nitish Kumar, I participated in the inauguration ceremony of Bihar’s first cable suspension bridge at Punpun in Patna. Known as ‘Laxman Jhula’, this bridge will greatly assist pedestrians, small vehicles, and devotees attending the Pitru Paksha fair.”
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Library at Dulhin Bazaar and interacted with families benefiting from the social security pension scheme.
“I connected with numerous mothers and sisters who expressed their appreciation for the government’s welfare initiatives,” Kumar stated.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from women holding banners expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing 125 units of free electricity and social security pensions.
Several dignitaries, including Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, JD(U) National General Secretary Shyam Rajak, and State General Secretary Arvind Kumar Singh alias Chhotu Singh, were present at the event alongside the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
The Patna projects are part of Nitish Kumar’s continuous development initiatives during this election year.
Recently, he launched schemes worth Rs 899.46 crore in Gaya and Rs 1,203.83 crore in Saran, demonstrating the government’s drive to showcase progress across districts ahead of the Assembly elections.
