Patna, July 26 (NationPress) In a significant step towards enhancing infrastructure prior to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday initiated the groundwork for multiple development projects exceeding Rs 650 crore in Madhubani district of the state.
Joined by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, the Bihar CM inaugurated projects encompassing road construction, irrigation, tourism, urban development, and flood management.
The primary ceremony took place in the Laukahi block.
One of the major projects includes the establishment of an approach road and a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at railway crossing number-39C, which connects National Highway-527B to Khajauli–Jaynagar railway stations, with an investment of Rs 178 crore.
This initiative, managed by the Road Construction Department, is designed to alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate smoother transportation.
Nitish Kumar also unveiled two significant water management initiatives costing Rs 424 crore.
The revival of the Old Kamaladhar and Jeevchh Kamala rivers, funded with Rs 264.93 crore, along with the construction of four weirs and flood mitigation infrastructure on the Kamla Balan and Jeevchh Kamala rivers for Rs 161.08 crore, were also announced.
These projects are anticipated to greatly improve irrigation systems and diminish recurring flood risks during the monsoon season, particularly benefiting the Jaynagar and Jhanjharpur regions.
In terms of urban development, Nitish Kumar laid the groundwork for a new bus terminal in the Madhubani Municipal Area, with an investment of Rs 14.53 crore aimed at enhancing public transport.
Additionally, he initiated the construction of the Phoolhar Sthan temple in the Harlakhi block, allocating Rs 31.13 crore for its development.
Phoolhar Sthan, regarded as the initial meeting point of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, will see the enhancement of tourist facilities, thereby promoting religious tourism.
These ventures are part of the commitments made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Pragati Yatra earlier this year.
