Patna, March 2 (NationPress) Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the Saidpur drain located near the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in the Rajendra Nagar locality of Patna on Monday. He meticulously assessed the current status of the ongoing construction efforts.
During his visit, the Chief Minister instructed officials to hasten the project and guarantee its completion within the designated timeframe.
Nitish Kumar stressed the significance of high-quality and timely work, especially considering the persistent waterlogging challenges that affect the city.
Accompanying him were Bihar's Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, and other senior officials.
The Saidpur drain initiative is vital for the Rajendra Nagar area, which experiences substantial waterlogging during the monsoon.
Officials reported that, upon completion, the project is anticipated to offer considerable relief to local residents.
There’s an expectation that the project will be finalized prior to this year’s monsoon season.
Recently, the Chief Minister has been actively inspecting significant drainage initiatives throughout the city.
Currently, construction work is also in progress at the Mandiri drain, Rajiv Nagar drain, and Serpentine Road drain, with regular evaluations to track advancement.
Once the Mandiri drain project is finished, the state government plans to establish a four-lane roadway linking Bailey Road at the Income Tax roundabout to Ashok Rajpath at Bans Ghat.
Moreover, a two-lane road has been suggested along the Rajiv Nagar drain, while a four-lane road is intended along Serpentine Road.
Since the inception of the new government in Bihar in November 2025, Nitish Kumar has been making frequent field visits, demonstrating a strong commitment to eliminating delays in development projects.
Authorities assert that upon the completion of these drainage and roadway projects, they will not only reduce waterlogging but also alleviate traffic congestion in surrounding areas.
