Nitish Kumar Unveils '109 Free Medicine Vehicles' in Patna

Patna, Dec 12 (NationPress) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled '109 free medicine vehicles' on Thursday as an initiative under the 'Swasth Bihar Mission'.
This scheme, inaugurated from the Chief Minister's official residence, seeks to improve healthcare services across the state.
With the introduction of these medicine vehicles, villagers will receive medications at no cost, alleviating the financial strain on rural communities and fostering equitable healthcare access.
The medicine vehicles will function at both block and Panchayat levels.
Each vehicle is fitted with GPS tracking systems, allowing a centralized control room in Patna to oversee their movements and ensure accountability. This initiative underscores the Bihar government's dedication to enhancing the state's healthcare framework.
By concentrating on rural and isolated regions, the program aims to guarantee the timely provision of medicines, minimize healthcare inequalities between urban and rural areas, and improve transparency and efficiency in service delivery through GPS-enabled tracking.
The 'Swasth Bihar Mission' is set to significantly influence the state's healthcare results, enhancing the quality of life for its rural residents and serving as a model for other states to emulate.
"These vehicles will provide medical services to villagers in remote locations who lack access to primary or common health centers. This initiative targets the healthcare needs of underserved populations," stated Bihar Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit.
The state government has implemented various initiatives, including upgrading medical colleges and Sadar hospitals, along with enhancing and operationalizing primary, common, and sub-divisional health centers throughout the state.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, along with Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, were present at the launch event.
Deputy Chief Minister Sinha shared on social media platform X that he, alongside Chief Minister Nitish, Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary, and state Health Minister Mangal Pandey, flagged off the free medicine and healthcare vehicles.
