The incident occurred around 9 a.m.
Upon receiving reports of gunfire between the two brothers, a police team swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.
Initial findings revealed that Vishwajeet Yadav was pronounced dead at the scene, while his brother Jayjeet Yadav suffered serious injuries.
Both Vishwajeet and Jayjeet are the sons of Raghunandan Yadav, who is the brother-in-law of Nityanand Rai.
Navgachiya SP Prerna Kumar confirmed that the siblings had a long-standing contentious relationship, which culminated in this violent episode.
The confrontation escalated when Vishwajeet retrieved a gun from home to confront Jayjeet. After Vishwajeet fired at Jayjeet, the latter managed to seize the weapon, leading to a fierce struggle.
Ultimately, Jayjeet shot Vishwajeet in the head. Family members promptly transported Jayjeet to a private hospital in Bhagalpur.

Vishwajeet's mother also suffered a gunshot injury to her hand.
An FIR has been filed at Parbatta police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

"The police are awaiting the recovery of Vishwajeet's mother, as her account may shed further light on this incident," Prerna added.
