'Nityanand Rai Labels Pappu Yadav's Claims as Misleading Rumors'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 7 (NationPress) The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, unequivocally rejected the assertions made by Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, an Independent MP representing Purnea in Bihar. Yadav claimed that there were plans to form a new Union Territory by amalgamating districts from Bihar and West Bengal.
In response to Yadav's social media allegations, MoS Rai stated that the Central government has no intention of merging districts from the two states to establish a Union Territory.
He described Yadav's claims as entirely unfounded and accused the Purnea MP of disseminating misleading information to the public.
"There is absolutely no validity to these assertions. Pappu Yadav's remarks lack any factual basis," MoS Rai emphasized, urging citizens to disregard such falsehoods.
On the previous day, Yadav had taken to social media platform X, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was plotting to impose President's Rule in West Bengal and create a new Union Territory.
According to Yadav's claims, this new Union Territory would encompass the Seemanchal region of Bihar along with districts from West Bengal, including Malda, Murshidabad, Raiganj, and Uttar Dinajpur.
Furthermore, Yadav suggested that this was part of a political conspiracy aimed at ousting Nitish Kumar from the Chief Minister's office in Bihar and appointing Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (retired), a military figure, as the state's Governor.
MoS Nityanand Rai dismissed these allegations decisively, asserting that Yadav's statements should not be taken seriously.
He reiterated that such claims are devoid of credibility and solely intended to create confusion among the public.
In light of MoS Rai's clarification, Pappu Yadav tweeted again on Saturday, implying that the current political events still raise significant questions.
"There's no smoke without fire," the Purnea MP commented, referencing the ongoing political dynamics in the region.
He also raised concerns regarding the appointment of Governors in Bihar and West Bengal, stating that if any Union Territory plan were to be enacted, it would face robust resistance.
Pappu Yadav warned of an economic blockade if such a decision were made.
This heated exchange has intensified the already charged political atmosphere in Bihar and the adjacent West Bengal.
