Is Pappu Yadav Facing Political Vendetta from Bihar Government?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 10 (NationPress) Purnea Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, issued a passionate written statement directed at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other prominent political and administrative figures on Tuesday. He accused the state government of orchestrating a series of legal challenges against him to harass and suppress his voice.
His remarks followed the granting of bail by an MP-MLA court in a case dating back 31 years, while simultaneously placing him in judicial custody for two other matters—one concerning a supposed violation of the Model Code of Conduct in Gardanibagh and another for allegedly impeding government officials in Budha Colony.
The latter incident relates to an altercation on February 6, when law enforcement attempted to detain him at his residence in Mandiri.
“I am uncertain who governs Bihar today. I once held Nitish Kumar in high regard as a brother, but this is not the government I respected,” Yadav remarked, reminiscing about his historical support for the Chief Minister during challenging political times.
Yadav asserted that throughout his 20 years in politics, he never requested personal favors from Kumar and refrained from attacking fellow leaders like Shakuni Choudhary or Samrat Choudhary.
“Can anyone explain to the people of Bihar what my alleged crime is? Is questioning the government a crime?” he challenged.
Pointing to his arrests in 2017, during the COVID-19 crisis, and now in 2026, Yadav suggested a pattern of personal vendetta and the misuse of authority against him for advocating on behalf of students, exposing governance failures, and most recently, addressing the death of a NEET aspirant.
“My fight is for the safety of Bihar’s daughters. What did I do wrong?” he questioned.
Attacking senior police officials, Yadav stated, “I don’t know who the ruler is and who the subject is, but the public is aware of everything,” asserting that intimidation would not erase the truth.
He also called into question the timing of the recent charges, highlighting that he had appeared alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Kumar on public platforms recently without any police interference.
“All these charges are linked to protests and the code of conduct. Not a single one is a criminal case against me,” he stressed.
Expressing confidence in the judicial system, Yadav indicated that he would escalate his fight to the Supreme Court if required.
“In a democracy, it is the people and the judiciary that hold power, not the government,” he emphasized.
He expressed gratitude to opposition leaders and various political figures, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Chandrashekhar Azad ‘Ravan’, Sanjay Singh, Manoj Jha, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and others from the Congress, CPI(ML), and RJD for their support during this challenging time.
“I have been committed to the struggle for truth since 1985. My voice has always been strong, and it will continue to be,” Yadav declared, pledging to fight for justice for the NEET aspirant and the dignity and safety of women in Bihar.
