Patna, March 20 (NationPress) A new political debate has sparked in Bihar regarding the concept of the 'Nitish Model' in contrast to the 'Samrat Model', creating noticeable tension within the NDA.

The controversy ignited following a post on X by BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, perceived by allies as an attempt to advocate for an alternative leadership narrative focused on Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

In response, leaders from the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) and other NDA partners firmly declared that only the 'Nitish Model' holds significance in Bihar's political landscape.

JD(U) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar stated clearly that there is no comparable model in the state.

“The Nitish Model is the only one operational in Bihar,” he asserted, stressing that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar remains the pivotal player in the state's governance and political structure.

He further noted that while Samrat Choudhary currently oversees the Home Department and is actively involved in administrative issues, this does not equate to the emergence of a distinct 'Samrat Model.'

Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi also chimed in, emphasizing that any future Chief Minister of Bihar must adhere to Nitish Kumar's governance style.

“Any successor to Nitish Kumar will need to follow his lead. Otherwise, they will neither prosper politically nor maintain their position,” Manjhi stated.

Similarly, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) leader Upendra Kushwaha dismissed the notion of a 'Samrat Model', affirming that Bihar already has a well-established development framework under Nitish Kumar.

“Bihar possesses its own model. There’s no need for an alternative. Any upcoming government will continue with this approach,” Kushwaha remarked.

The unfolding events underscore the latent tensions within the NDA in Bihar, as allies publicly reaffirm their support for Nitish Kumar's leadership.

Previously, a tweet from BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar on Friday ignited further controversy within the NDA alliance.

In his statement, the BJP leader suggested that since the Home Department was assigned to Samrat Choudhary, there has been a marked crackdown on crime in the state.

He claimed that criminals now operate under fear and that law and order have improved under Choudhary’s direction.

He likened the situation to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that just as the 'Yogi Model' is linked to strict law enforcement, a similar 'Samrat Model' is now developing in Bihar.

The spokesperson further asserted that if the current trend continues, crime in Bihar could be eradicated within the next three months.

The remarks have intensified the ongoing political discourse regarding leadership and governance frameworks in Bihar, especially as speculation about a potential shift in leadership grows.

Point of View

The ongoing debate between the 'Nitish Model' and the 'Samrat Model' reflects the complexities of alliances within the NDA. While some leaders push for alternative narratives, the consensus remains firmly in favor of Nitish Kumar's established governance framework. This situation highlights the fragile dynamics and the importance of strong leadership in Bihar's political landscape.
