Patna, Feb 7 (NationPress) The recent arrest of Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, widely known as Pappu Yadav, in connection with a 31-year-old case has swiftly transformed into an emotional and political spectacle. His mother, Shanti Priya Devi, has made a poignant statement that has sparked renewed outrage throughout Bihar.

Clearly distraught over her son’s detainment, Shanti Priya Devi made a heartfelt plea, stating, “Release Pappu Yadav. If anything occurs to him, we will not forgive anyone.”

With unwavering conviction, she asserted, “Pappu Yadav is not merely my son; he is God’s son. His purpose on this earth is to serve humanity.”

She further claimed that her son was being intentionally framed due to his vocal stance against injustice and those in authority.

“A man who has dedicated his life to assisting the poor and marginalized is being wrongly depicted as a criminal today,” she urged, imploring the authorities, “Do not harm my son… he poses no threat to anyone.”

This declaration has intensified the fury among Pappu Yadav’s supporters, who have labeled his arrest as a politically motivated act.

Late Friday night, around 11 PM, a substantial police force from various stations arrived at Pappu Yadav’s residence in Mandiri, Patna.

The operation was overseen by City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh, with Secretariat SDPO Anu Kumari also present.

Following a tense confrontation between Pappu Yadav and the police, he was taken into custody after fulfilling the necessary legal requirements.

Stringent security measures were in place during the operation, closely monitored by senior officials.

Shortly after his arrest, Pappu Yadav’s health began to decline.

Initially transported to IGIMS for a preliminary medical assessment, he was subsequently referred to PMCH for more comprehensive treatment and evaluation.

Post medical procedures at PMCH, the police proceeded with the legal formalities to present him before the court.

This arrest has ignited widespread political responses, particularly as Pappu Yadav has been actively questioning the circumstances surrounding the NEET aspirant's death at Shambhu Girls Hostel, both on the streets and within legislative discussions.

High-profile opposition figures, including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, have expressed their support for Pappu Yadav, alleging that the arrest is a manifestation of political vendetta orchestrated by the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government and the Bihar police.

In contrast, the police and administrative officials have asserted that the arrest was conducted strictly in accordance with judicial directives, emphasizing that the passage of time does not negate the legal procedure.

The court has ordered Pappu Yadav to be kept in medical custody, allowing him to remain at PMCH under strict security oversight.

The next court hearing is set for Monday, February 9.
