Patna, July 17 (NationPress) Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, met with Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Thursday to request the prompt implementation of President’s rule in Bihar, citing a complete failure in maintaining law and order.
After the meeting, Pappu Yadav expressed to the press, “Bihar is under the control of the Bharatiya Janata Party, not Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The entire governance structure has collapsed, leaving us with no choice but to seek President’s rule.”
Pointing to the recent attack at Paras Hospital in Patna, Yadav claimed that the law and order situation in Bihar has declined to such an extent that criminals act without fear, even committing murder within esteemed medical facilities.
He also called for CBI investigations into the slayings of businessman Gopal Khemka and sand businessman Ramakant Yadav, accusing the Bihar Police of bias based on caste while neglecting significant cases.
“Criminals are bold everywhere, and the police are merely pretending to do their jobs. Therefore, we have formally asked for President’s rule from the Governor,” he asserted.
Shakti Singh Yadav, spokesperson for the RJD, criticized the government, stating, “Our Chief Minister has lost touch with reality, and Patna is overrun by criminals. Murders are occurring in high-profile locations like Paras Hospital, and the administration is impotent. The future of 14 crore residents of Bihar is in the hands of someone who is not fit for the Chief Minister’s role.”
He condemned the authorities for failing to learn from past notorious murder incidents, adding, “Despite having three Superintendents of Police and one Senior Superintendent of Police in Patna, criminal activity remains unchecked.”
Bihar’s Rural Works Minister, Ashok Chaudhary, reacted by saying, “I am unaware of the incident at Paras Hospital. It is a private facility with its own security. We need to investigate how the security lapse occurred.”
Previously, four unidentified attackers infiltrated Paras Hospital, located in the Shastri Nagar police jurisdiction, and shot dead an undertrial inmate on the premises.
The victim, identified as Chandan Mishra (25-30 years old) from Sonbarsa block, Buxar, was receiving treatment at the hospital while on parole.
Mishra, who had ten criminal cases against him, including murder, had been incarcerated since 2024 and was admitted to Paras Hospital for medical care.
About four armed individuals arrived on motorcycles, entered room number 209 on the second floor, and opened fire, resulting in his death.
