Agartala, April 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Wednesday that there are no Pakistani nationals currently living in the state. This statement was made in light of the Central government's recent orders to all states and Union Territories to locate and deport Pakistani citizens, following the terrorist incident on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters during an event in Agartala, Saha, who also oversees the Home Ministry, stated: “At this time, there are no Pakistani nationals in Tripura. However, foreign individuals from other countries who were present in the state have either been sent back or have faced legal actions.”

This declaration regarding the lack of Pakistani nationals in Tripura highlights the state government's adherence to central directives and its vigilant approach towards national security.

Previously, the Chief Minister revealed that approximately 200 Bangladeshi nationals had been identified in the state recently, and legal measures were initiated against them.

A comprehensive report has been submitted to the Union Home Ministry regarding the presence of foreign nationals in Tripura, along with the security protocols that have been implemented, as mentioned by Saha.

Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a virtual meeting with Saha and the Superintendents of Police and District Magistrates across all eight districts, instructing immediate actions to identify foreign nationals within the state.

“We are undertaking extensive investigations, and I have provided a detailed report to Delhi confirming that no Pakistani nationals have been located in Tripura to date,” he added.

In a related development, Tripura Police apprehended an additional individual for making “anti-national” comments on social media following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The accused, identified as Saled Miah, 50, resides in Bodhjungnagar in western Tripura.

Earlier, Tripura Police had arrested three individuals, including a retired teacher and a student leader, in the Dhalai and Gomati districts; they are currently in custody. Additionally, six others are under police questioning or surveillance for making controversial remarks on social media after the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The official confirmed that the trio was detained under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Police have urged the public to refrain from making any controversial or anti-national statements on social media concerning sensitive issues that could lead to ethnic tensions or disturbances.

Authorities have also warned that strict legal measures will be enforced against anyone involved in such actions.

“Certain individuals were disseminating provocative and misleading messages on social media. Please understand that sharing or creating such content is a legal offense. Stringent legal action will follow for those involved,” stated the Tripura Police in a post on X.

The police also encouraged everyone to ignore or refrain from forwarding any provocative and misleading messages.
