Agartala, May 11 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha stated on Sunday that India's ongoing battle against terrorism is set to persist into the future.
The Chief Minister, who is said by senior officials to regularly oversee the India-Bangladesh border developments in Tripura, emphasized that all security agencies at both state and national levels are vigilantly monitoring the current circumstances.
“We will take appropriate actions as the situation demands,” declared Saha, who is responsible for the home portfolio, during a media briefing.
In response to reports concerning Pakistan's ceasefire violations despite its assurances to halt firing towards India, the Chief Minister remarked: “We will assess the situation as it unfolds.”
He expressed that he has urged both Central and state forces to operate in harmony while addressing the ongoing issues stemming from India-Pakistan tensions.
During a discussion with senior security officials, Saha requested them to ensure close collaboration to address border-related challenges and other developments in light of the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
“We are acting under the guidance of the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and other leaders are coordinating closely to manage the current situation,” Saha informed the media.
“The situation in Tripura remains entirely normal, and there is no cause for alarm,” the Chief Minister added.
Tripura shares an 856 km border with Bangladesh and is encircled by the neighboring nation on three sides.
A BSF official noted that border security personnel have heightened vigilance and increased their presence along the International Border since the unrest began in the neighboring country last year.
“We have bolstered our security measures following the Pahalgam terror attack and considering the ongoing discord between India and Pakistan,” the official stated, adding that senior BSF personnel frequently inspect border areas and monitor the situation continuously.
