Numerous Devotees Gather in Puri for New Year Darshan of Lord Jagannath

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31 (NationPress) A large number of devotees from various parts of the country flocked to the coastal city of Puri in Odisha on Tuesday to seek darshan of the venerated Lord Jagannath at the ancient 12th-century temple on the threshold of the New Year.

The faithful believe that commencing the year with the blessings of the holy triad invites prosperity and happiness.

In anticipation of a significant influx of visitors at the sacred site on New Year’s Day, local authorities and temple management have implemented comprehensive measures to facilitate crowd management and ensure a seamless darshan experience.

Puri's Superintendent of Police, Vinit Agrawal, conducted a thorough inspection of the arrangements for the attendees at the Puri Jagannath Temple.

Discussing the preparations, Agrawal mentioned that the Puri Police have established extensive protocols for the New Year. "The temple is under stringent security measures. Devotees are permitted to proceed for darshan in an orderly fashion through the seven gates, and a block-wise system has been instituted to mitigate any inconvenience. The darshan arrangements have been operating smoothly so far," stated the Puri SP.

“Moreover, barricades have been erected from Market Square to the temple to regulate the movement of devotees. Ambulance services are readily available to address any health emergencies swiftly. The entire city is monitored by CCTV cameras installed at strategic locations. We warmly welcome all devotees for the New Year festivities," Agrawal added.

Devotees have expressed their contentment with the arrangements made at the temple to guarantee a smooth and trouble-free darshan of the holy triad.

Furthermore, the Odisha Police have also established detailed security measures for the Zero Night and New Year celebrations in various locations across the state, particularly in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The Commissionerate police have deployed three additional DCPs, five ACPs, 24 inspectors, 88 SI/ASIs, and 36 sections of the force to avert any unfortunate incidents during the zero-night festivities.

A sufficient number of police personnel will also be stationed at significant sites in the cities for the New Year’s Day celebrations.
