Bhubaneswar, March 6 (NationPress) The Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, R.S. Gopalan, initiated a public awareness campaign on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls on Friday. He encouraged voters, particularly those residing in urban areas, to check their information against the 2002 electoral rolls.

During a press briefing in Bhubaneswar, Gopalan mentioned that the office of the state CEO is engaging in a comprehensive mapping and verification of voters in the 2025 electoral rolls, utilizing the 2002 voters' list as a reference across Odisha.

As per the guidelines from the Election Commission, the 2002 voter list serves as a foundational document for mapping the upcoming 2025 voter list.

He urged voters to confirm their names in both the 2025 and 2002 lists and to provide the necessary information to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

Gopalan also advised that if a voter cannot locate their name in the 2002 voter list, they can assist the mapping effort by providing details of their father or mother.

In cases where neither the voter nor their parents' names can be found, they may also submit information regarding their grandparents for the mapping process.

The CEO clarified that no documentation or Aadhaar card is necessary for this mapping endeavor.

Once the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is underway, name registrations will follow the established protocol.

Gopalan disclosed that approximately 90 percent of the voter list mapping has been accomplished, with ongoing efforts to reach the remaining voters.

"From the outstanding 10 percent, we expect to map at least 8 percent of voters shortly. Our objective is to achieve 100 percent accuracy and verification of the electoral rolls," stated the Odisha CEO.

He noted that BLOs are assigned to connect with voters to verify their information in the electoral rolls.

During the mapping procedure, various details such as the voter's name, relative's name, age or date of birth, polling station, part number, and EPIC information will be cross-verified.

Throughout this process, BLOs will provide on-ground assistance, enabling voters to verify their information via the ECINET portal, the Voter Service Portal, the CEO Odisha website, and the ECINET mobile app.
