Odisha Farmer Thanks PM Modi After Recognition in 'Mann Ki Baat'

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29 (NationPress) Krishna Chandra Nag, a farmer from the Golamunda block in Odisha's Kalahandi district, expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging his contributions towards self-sufficiency during the PM's monthly broadcast 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday.

Utilizing modern agricultural techniques, Krishna Chandra cultivates a significant amount of tomatoes and other vegetables, creating job opportunities for over 100 farmers. His accomplishments were highlighted by PM Modi during the 'Mann Ki Baat' program, where the Prime Minister praised his efforts in generating employment.

In collaboration with fellow farmers in the area, Krishna Chandra established a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) and developed a lucrative business model, enhancing the local economy. His annual revenue is around Rs 1.5 crore, and he encourages more farmers to adopt modern farming techniques supported by the government.

Having commenced his farming journey in 2006, he currently manages 16 acres of land, achieving an annual turnover of Rs 1.5 crore with profits ranging from Rs 75-80 lakh.

He expressed joy at PM Modi's acknowledgment of his village as a center for vegetables, stating, "It feels wonderful to have my block, village, and district recognized before the nation."

The farmer pointed out that NABARD and Mahashakti Foundation offer substantial assistance for modern farming practices through various subsidies. He stressed that collective action is necessary, and his vision is for farmers throughout the district and Odisha to advance together.

Krishna Chandra encouraged his fellow farmers to adopt modern technology in agriculture for improved results. Experts believe that such initiatives in the agriculture sector can lead to the advancement of marginal farmers by associating with successful farmers like Krishna Chandra, allowing them to create their own success stories.
