Bhubaneswar, Aug 14 (NationPress) In a visionary initiative towards enhanced governance, the Odisha government has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS). This collaboration aims to implement a Decision Support System (DSS), fostering a data-driven governance model underpinned by analytical insights.
The Odisha government highlighted that this partnership with CEGIS is instrumental in advancing the vision of ‘Viksit Odisha’.
Furthermore, the non-profit entity CEGIS has committed to a non-financial MoU for a duration of five years, emphasizing the importance of institutional capacity building in Odisha.
Currently, CEGIS Foundation collaborates with five Government of India institutions, including MoSPI, NITI Aayog, Capacity Building Commission, Karmayogi Bharat, and the India Intellectual Property Office.
The MoU signing took place at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall, Lokaseva Bhawan, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
In his address, the Deputy CM warmly welcomed the CEGIS team, recognizing Odisha as a land rich in history, resilience, and the hopes of its populace.
He emphasized that the signing of this MoU represents a crucial advancement in governance reforms within Odisha. The Deputy CM remarked that this partnership heralds the start of a transformative journey for Odisha—one that prioritizes data, evidence, and outcomes in public service delivery.
He asserted that the current government is committed to enhancing the lives of the state's residents.
“Our initiatives over the past year—in sectors such as health, education, disaster management, livelihoods, and digital infrastructure—are designed to ensure that each citizen receives effective, efficient, and equitable public services. Our solutions must evolve to be smarter, targeted, and more responsive. The collaboration with CEGIS is a vital facilitator in this endeavor. Their methodology, research, and practical experience align with Odisha’s aspirations for 2036 and 2047 in fortifying our institutions and systems,” the Deputy CM added.
Deo also mentioned that over the next five years, this collaboration will offer technical and analytical support across various departments—informing policy decisions, optimizing expenditures, and improving public service delivery in key sectors. He expressed gratitude to CEGIS for their commitment and partnership in furthering the vision of Viksit Odisha for 2036 and 2047.
