Odisha: Puri Gears Up for Magnificent Navy Day Festivities on December 4

Bhubaneswar, December 1 (NationPress) The preparations are reaching their final phase for the highly anticipated Navy Day festivities at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri scheduled for December 4.

Puri district Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain announced on Sunday that an operational demonstration will take place on this significant occasion.

“The President of India and the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, will grace the event as the Chief Guest,” he said.

He mentioned that full-dress rehearsals are set for Sunday and Monday, with a rest day on December 3 preceding the main event on December 4.

“All necessary arrangements have been made to assist the Indian Navy in ensuring the event's success. A substantial police presence has been mobilized for the program. Infrastructure improvements have been made along the open beaches to offer attendees an immersive experience throughout the coast,” Swain added.

Swain further informed during the press conference that LED screens, sanitation facilities, and medical units will be made available for the event on December 4.

He cautioned tourists and spectators against entering the water, noting that an additional 300 lifeguards have been stationed to prevent any unfortunate incidents during the grand occasion.

In a related statement, officials from the Indian Navy promised an extraordinary show on December 4.

“This event will showcase a spectacular display that you likely have not witnessed before. Approximately 15 warships and over 40 aircraft, including fixed-wing, fighter jets, and helicopters, will participate. Furthermore, there will be demonstrations by marine commandos and numerous other activities throughout the event,” stated Commodore B. Deepak Aneel, the Naval Officer-in-Charge of Odisha.

He emphasized that attendees will witness the operational capabilities and readiness of the Indian Navy during this momentous event on December 4.

Odisha holds significant importance for us, boasting a 480 km coastline. I encourage everyone to enjoy the show, as we promise to deliver a truly spectacular experience,” Aneel added.

He also mentioned to the media that assets such as a Landing Platform Dock, three destroyers, three frigates, corvettes, and smaller vessels will be part of the event. Additionally, the Chetak helicopter and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), also referred to as Dhruv, will execute various maneuvers along the Puri coast on December 4.

It is noteworthy that Navy Day is celebrated to honor Operation Trident, which was the assault on the Karachi harbor during the Indo-Pakistan War on December 4, 1971.
