Bhubaneswar, Dec 4 (NationPress) Speaker Surama Padhy on Wednesday adjourned the Odisha Assembly as the legislators departed for Puri to attend the magnificent operational demonstration event in celebration of Navy Day at Blue Flag Beach of the coastal town.
It is noteworthy that President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the event a short while earlier.
Special transportation has been arranged by the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation for the MLAs' tour. The Assembly was adjourned at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mukesh Mahaling, informed IANS that this is a significant opportunity for Odisha to highlight its tradition and culture. Such events will greatly enhance tourism in the region.
In a statement to the media, Speaker Padhy expressed that it is a proud moment for Odisha to host such programs. She assured that everyone would be guaranteed their safety and security while witnessing the might of the Indian Navy safeguarding our coastal borders.
The Indian Navy Day festivities commenced at Puri Blue Flag Beach following a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented to President Murmu.
Involved in the operational demonstration are as many as 15 warships, over 37 aircraft, one submarine, and marine commandos.
Importantly, various departments of the Odisha Government have provided extensive support to ensure the successful execution of the event for the Indian Navy. An adequate number of police forces have been deployed for the occasion, and infrastructure has been developed along the open beaches to allow attendees to fully experience the event along the coast. Additionally, LED displays, restroom facilities, and medical units have been set up for the event.
It is essential to note that Navy Day is celebrated to honor the success of Operation Trident, which took place during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
