New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conveyed her warmest regards to the residents of Odisha in celebration of Odisha Day, also referred to as Utkal Dibasa, wishing for the state's peace and prosperity.

In a message posted on X, the President stated, "Heartfelt greetings to everyone on Odisha Day! This day serves as a platform to honor the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and the significant contributions of its people across various domains. The friendly and welcoming population of Odisha has made immense efforts towards the state's advancement while safeguarding its esteemed traditions."

Emphasizing Odisha's pivotal role in India's struggle for independence, she remarked, "Odisha has significantly contributed to the freedom movement and has been home to numerous architects of modern India. I seek the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath for peace and prosperity in Odisha!"

President Murmu hails from Odisha and was born into a Santali family in Uparbeda village. She began her political career within the state and was awarded the Nilkanth Award for the Best MLA of the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2007.

Odisha Day is celebrated every year to recognize the establishment of the state on April 1, 1936. This day pays homage to Odisha's cultural, historical, and linguistic legacy, acknowledging its contributions to art, literature, and spirituality.

Earlier that day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his greetings, highlighting Odisha's cultural significance and achievements.

"Warm wishes on Utkala Dibasa! This day is a fitting tribute to Odisha's glorious culture. India takes pride in Odisha's history, literature, and music. The people of Odisha are industrious and have thrived in various sectors. Over the past year, the Central and Odisha Governments have been working diligently to advance the state's development," he posted on X.

Union Minister J.P. Nadda also participated in the celebration, commending Odisha's growth and heritage.

"On the occasion of Odisha Day, I send my warm wishes to our brothers and sisters from this wonderful state," he posted on social media.

"Renowned for its natural beauty and dynamic communities, Odisha is achieving new milestones in growth and development. May the divine blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath continue to guide and bestow prosperity and peace upon the residents of the state," he added.
