New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his heartfelt greetings to the citizens of Odisha on the occasion of the state's foundation day, emphasizing that India takes immense pride in its history, literature, and music.
In a post shared on X, PM Modi highlighted the collaboration between the Centre and the state government to foster development.
He stated, “Warm wishes on Utkala Dibasa! This day is a profound tribute to Odisha’s magnificent culture. India is proud of Odisha’s legacy, literature, and music. The people of Odisha are industrious and have excelled across various domains. Over the past year, the Centre and Odisha Governments have been working diligently to advance the state's development.”
Utkal Diwas, also referred to as Odisha Foundation Day, is celebrated annually on this date, commemorating the establishment of Odisha (previously known as Orissa) in 1936. This day honors the state’s cultural, historical, and linguistic importance, celebrating its rich heritage and contributions to art, literature, and spirituality.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in his greetings, expressed that it is a day to honor the remarkable individuals who sacrificed for the creation of Odisha.
The CM conveyed on his X handle in Odia (loosely translated), “Warm greetings to all on the occasion of Odisha Day. A sincere tribute to the great individuals who made significant sacrifices for the establishment of a separate Odisha state and enhanced the glory of our language, literature, and culture. A multitude of events are being organized throughout the state to celebrate this significant occasion.
Previously, state Culture Minister Suryavansi Suraj announced that for the first time, ‘Odia Paksha’ will be observed with enthusiasm from April 1 to the Odia New Year on April 14. Various government departments will conduct activities ranging from block to state levels, including cleanliness initiatives at historical sites, distribution of Odia language learning materials, blood donation drives, a campaign to buy Odia books, and celebrations of folk art and young writers' day.
