Bhubaneswar, April 26 (NationPress) In response to the central government's directive to revoke visas for Pakistani nationals, various states across India are taking prompt action to locate and assist in the departure of those affected.

As reported by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Odisha has identified 12 Pakistani nationals currently living in the state.

During a press briefing, Bhubaneswar's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena confirmed that one Pakistani national is residing in the city. This individual has been issued a 'Leave India' notice.

The individual has successfully completed the exit procedures via an online system, which received approval on Friday.

Authorities have also instructed Pakistani nationals in other areas of Odisha to exit the country by April 27.

DCP Meena stated, 'The Government of India has issued an order to revoke visas for Pakistani nationals living in India. Following this, the state government has instructed all district officials to verify records. During this process, we discovered that one Pakistani national is in Bhubaneswar. We reached out to him, and he had already applied for an exit permit, which was authorized today. He must leave India by April 27.'

Officials clarified that any Pakistani national who does not depart by the specified deadline will be regarded as an overstaying foreign national and could face legal consequences.

This widespread visa cancellation is part of India's firm diplomatic reply following evidence of Pakistani involvement in the recent Pahalgam terror incident. Visas across 14 categories issued to Pakistani nationals have been annulled as a result.

However, the Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that long-term visas granted to Pakistani nationals will continue to be valid.
