Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, April 14 (NationPress) - Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida officially inaugurated the groundbreaking "Arohan" initiative on Tuesday, a pivotal program launched by the Department of Women and Child Development with the goal of enhancing the early childhood education framework statewide.
As per an official announcement, the key aim of this visionary initiative is to fortify the groundwork of Early Childhood Education in Odisha and to facilitate a seamless transition for children from Anganwadi centres to Bal Vatika-3 after they complete their pre-primary education. This initiative primarily focuses on six-year-old children who have completed their foundational years and are now poised to enter Sishu Vatika III (Class 1).
While addressing the gathered children and their parents, Parida underscored the importance of the first six years in a child’s life for optimal brain development. She pointed out that, during the Poshan Pakhya-2026, the government is emphasizing early childhood development.
Highlighting the significance of family and community involvement, she stated that this initiative is not merely a governmental responsibility; the active engagement and support from parents are vital in shaping a promising future for the children. During the launch, the Deputy CM elaborated that the name "Arohan" represents the "ascent" of a child's educational journey.
She remarked that about 80% of a child's foundational development occurs within the Anganwadi setting; this program is designed to prepare them for the remaining 20% as they embark on their formal academic careers. By celebrating this transition, the government aims to instill pride and excitement in the children, encouraging them to view this as a significant new adventure rather than just leaving a familiar environment.
The Deputy CM expressed her sincere appreciation to the Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department and the entire administrative team for being at the forefront of this innovative concept.
She reiterated that "Arohan" is not just a ceremonial event but a pledge towards the education and prosperity of the youth in the state. She expressed her aspirations that, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, this program will effectively guide these children towards a bright and empowered future.
Parida applied tikka to the children as a representation of a new beginning, sending forth the little ones with the Arohan kit, along with blessings and encouragement.
Reflecting the essence of the initiative, the program carries the tagline "Ujwala Bhabisyat Pain Pade Agaku", highlighting a collective stride towards a brighter future for every child.
