Bhubaneswar, Aug 10 (NationPress) Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi declared on Sunday that since taking office, his administration has emphasized substantial advancements in the healthcare and education sectors, as reported by government officials.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during the launch of a new 650-bedded facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 280 crore, at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) located in the Koraput district.
"It is our government's responsibility to ensure transparent governance alongside development. Since we came to power, we have prioritized quality enhancements in education and healthcare. We have addressed long-standing vacancies in the healthcare sector as a priority. Currently, the state boasts 12 medical colleges, with plans for four new institutions in Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Nabarangpur districts," he stated.
Additionally, he announced the upcoming construction of a six-lane road to connect the Jaypore-Berhampur-Bhubaneswar Economic Corridor.
CM Majhi assured that all vacant positions for healthcare professionals at the SLNMCH will be filled promptly.
In his address at the event, he emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring that residents of Koraput have access to local healthcare services, eliminating the need for lengthy travels.
Moreover, he mentioned that individuals from Koraput and neighboring districts like Malkangiri and Rayagada, as well as areas in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, will benefit from the new medical college.
CM Majhi highlighted that the newly inaugurated 650-bedded hospital will provide advanced treatment facilities.
He also pointed out that the medical college will house a specialized oxygen plant to ensure critical patients have uninterrupted access to oxygen supplies.
The state government has allocated Rs 41.15 crore for establishing an advanced cancer hospital on a 2-acre site adjacent to the SLNMCH in Koraput, he added.
CM Majhi underscored the accomplishments of his government, particularly in relation to initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana.
He mentioned that within just one year, significant advancements have been made across various sectors.
"These initiatives will be accelerated in the future. Our government is driven by the people. We aim to establish a Samruddha Odisha by 2036 and position Odisha as a leading state in a developed India by 2047. A new era has commenced in Odisha encompassing education, healthcare, agriculture, industry, job creation, and sustainable economic growth, with Koraput district being an integral part of this progress," CM Majhi concluded.
